Gmail trouble after update

Since I updated my M8 to 4.4.3, when i get an email attachment as html, it will not open. I get a message "net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME"
Anything sent as a pdf file is ok. What the heck is this? I can open these html files on another phone, pc, kindle, anything but my M8.
I love this phone, but I gotta get this fixed. I've tried all the menu options and even went to a Sprint store....nobody can help other than telling me to save the file then go to a file mgr to read it.
Anyone have this problem or can offer a suggestion??

I have the same problem. I'm on 4.4.4 on a Samsung S5.

Probably an obvious question but have you tried restarting the phone or force closing Gmail?

Try clearing the app's data from within the application manager and uninstall any updates to the gmail app.
