Gmote question

I down loaded mp4 movies, got the gmote client and server now i know its beta but has anyone gotten the mp4 movie to play back on their phone?. music works great and so does the remote. but there is no video playback on my phone only sound from the movie with a "Music note" symbol in the player. i have a converter, should i go to another format?
