I'd love to play Go on my G2 Touch, are there any decent implementations of Go on android? Or anything on the way?

Lol, i read that as "GO ON ANDROID!", like you were cheering it on, rather than "go, on android?".

I have no idea about ur question im afraid, i just thought you were going to say something about games on android in general!

The sameness of the verb and the game name makes it a bit more difficult to find information about it too...

I believe there is a paid title called 'Hugoban - Go Weiqi Igo' that meets the game you are thinking of.

Ditto, wish I could find a Go game for my Hero... :p

Gobang Multiplayer looked very nice from the pics, but it appears to not be traditional "Go" rules, something else?
Hugoban looks to be something where you can study different games but not actually play your own game.

Yes, Gobang seems like fun and a really nicely put together piece of software, but not Go, and Hugoban seems like a good way to improve my play (and I could use some of that to be sure), but isn't a solution for playing.

Sounds great, I have been thinking of getting a go board to learn to play. Having it in my phone too would be lovely.

I don't play much Go, but I did see this one recently and it seems decent:

    Hiya,

I'm glad there is some interest in it, ive only recently discovered the wonders of Go and thought it would be great to write an android App for it.

A couple of questions, I thought i would follow the google mantra of release early and release often, so instead of waiting till the app has all the inteneded features i want to put a playable barebones version on the marketplace and update as I go, does this sound good to anyone (or would people rather wait for a full-featured and finished version?)

Work is going well...I will post on here when it's ready!

@rackha - I'll be excited to see your app. In fact, if it's not only an IGS client but has AI (like gnugo) included, I'll be even happier. Being able to play against the machine would be handy for times w/o a data connection...

Hiya, unfortunatly no AI as yet, it's a big enough job buiding the IGS client!

It would be great to have some port of GnuGo on android, but it's too big a job for me at the moment (plus playing against the computer is no way as good or fun as a thinking human!)

Im getting my hand on a device for testing this eve so hopefully will have uploaded something by the end of the week!

Ok, ive uploaded a Beta version of my Go (Weiqi, Baduk, igo) IGS (Internet Go Server) android app, its free (but only for 20 days or so), after that it will be a paid app but only a small amount. Currently games can only be played at the moment and not observed, but i will be uploaded upgrades every couple of days to try and get a decent functional version.

If anyone encounters any bugs or has any suggestions for improvement then please let me know (there is an email link in the app), this is aside from GNU go port which i know everyone wants! :)

Its called ' Goigo ', i would put a QR link on here but i have no way of testing it at the moment. It should work on 1.5+ and any screen size / density.

    Enjoy!

    Dori

ps, i really would appreciate any feedback, weather good or bad!

Thats ok, competition is always good!

Downloaded it and had a play but seems like still in development (like mine i guess), only playing 9x9 and even then the AI took forever to play, never completed its 3rd move...

May incorporate GNU go into GOIGO in the not too distant future, i prefer playing against people myself but i know people want an AI player..

Ha, its funny that i take for granted people will know what the app is, silly of me. Goigo is and Internet Go Server (IGS) client, so you can play people (and watch games) from all round the world, between 17 kyu and 7-9 dan (amateur and pro). Its free to join IGS (unless you live in or connect from Japan or Korea I believe) and free to play.

    Dori

ps, I think i will extend the beta period as im doing an overhaul before releasing due to the great constructive feedback ive been receiving, but i have so much work on i haven't had time to do it! Will post here when its ready!

while when I search "go" in the android market I get nothing, when I search "go igs" I get 5 options koalago (3 versions, 2 free) goigs, and androidnogo which atm is free. What I would prefer is to play against a computer, as playing against a human on an asian based server is likely a one way trip to humiliation by a five year old. (no I'm not kidding. There are elementary school students in asia that can wipe the floor with the top Dan class go players in the US)
