Hello hardware version 3! Quick thoughts:

    1. The battery cover is darker, mre rubberized and yay! It fits flush!
    2. The volume buttons stick out more, I actual like it.
    3. Battery looks different. It now has silver accents on it.

    But more importantly.....

    4. The screens are not loose and there is zero light leakage!!!!! Thank God. Btw, I got tired of messing with Radio Shack and my wifes phone, so I just returned both of them and purchased two version 3's at a Sprint store.

Same thing for me. Just wrote about it in a different thread. Got a 0003 replacement EVO for my light leaking LCD 0002 and noticed the same things: buttons firmer, not recessed, no light leakage, rubber back that fits snugly, no grounding issue, capacitive lights that don't remain on permanently. Only difference for me is the battery I got was the same style all-red one without the silver/gold trim.

Good luck with yours! I know people have gotten into all manner of arguments about the merits of different hardware versions (and many have perfect 0002 ones), but I can personally attest to a great hardware quality improvement immediately... so long as the light leaks don't return!

Did you have to cancel the sprint contract when you returned them to RS and then reactivate a new account at Sprint store?

My hardware is also 0003 but doesn't have the battery with the silver lining around it.

I can't speak for Blake247, but in my case they just did a straight swap in Radio Shack. I guess they removed the old phone out the Sprint system in the store and activated the new one right there, probably updating the ESN/MEID automatically.

I wonder if there's a way to check the actual build date. On the palm pre if you dialed ##786# in the phone app it would tell you the actual build date and reconditioned date if it was refurbed.

This is very interesting. Version 3. Where do you look to find your version number? When you do this swap, do they extend your 30 day trial period or do you only get the remainder of the time?

before i checked, i was getting worried that problems would start appearing on my evo but i guess i'm safe.

Is there a difference in how long the battery last now with silver lining battery? If so I would like to keep the all red battery and users with version 3 evo please take some close up pictures of the verision 3 we would all like to see some photos and compare.

Ver 003 has the same issue. I returned my first evo and got a ver 003 and well same issue. So Ver 003 does not fix the issue. Im going back to best buy tomorrow and I also emailed HTC

Ordered mine online and got it on the 7th as well hardware version 3. Couldn't tell ya any differences cause i have nothing to compare too. I will say of all the different issue ive read about the phone mine version 3 does have the touchscreen grounding issue. Work perfect when held or plugged in on the charger but just laying on a table or counter I cant pull down the notification bar and using one of the draw apps from the market hoding it i get solid lines when layed on a table the solid line becomes a broken hot mess of crap so i dont thing version 3 is the end all be all of fixes..... #justsaying

Hey blake I tried your glass separation fix and it worked for about 3 days. It leads me to believe that it just doesnt have enough adhesive to hold up no matter what we do. It actualy has been getting worst. Im tempted to do the same and return mine to radio shack, but I will be losing my 50 dollar gift card plus a restocking fee according to RS. So I will just have to patiently wait till RS gets more in stock hopfully a better batch. Here is a pic of mine getting alot worst. I can even fit my blockbuster membership card in the gap.

Yeah yeah I know. You see my wife is learning English. And Netflix or PS3 network does not offer subtitles when you download movies. So I rent blu-rays from you know who. That way my wife can understand, understand? :D

What language does she speak? Do you watch movies in her language then use english subtitles or the other way around?

Back to the thread, I pre-ordered the white evo today. I could have got a black evo from best buy this week because i was first on the list but i kind of like the white and hope by july 11th they work out most if not all of the problems.
