Hi, this is addressed to whoever from Google might be reading this (I hope this isn't a total waste of time!)

Two areas where the Droid map and navigation application need to be fixed:

    1. Sometimes map placement for an address is incorrect, and badly so. In cases like this, there should be a way to move the map point to indicate the actual location of the address. This is already possible when using the Web Google Nav app (although it isn't possible in the Maps app, which is kinda weird.) The corrected location might be stored as a Lat/Lon location with the address in Droid Contacts.
    2. I can modify a route in Google Navigation app, but I can't in the Droid navigation app. I have modified a route in the Web Nav app, and then emailed it to myself to try and get it into a navigation session. Instead, when you open the link to the corrected route on the Droid, it reverts to the route you had before modifying. It should be able to do one of the following:
      • Be able to modify the route in the Droid
      • Be able to import the modified route from Google maps.
      • OR, YOU COULD LIST THE DROID AS ONE OF THE SUPPORTED GPS's IN THE GOOGLE APP "Send" FUNCTION.
This is more than a suggestion, not being able to modify a Droid route is a pain-in-the-butt. Sometimes there are bad neighborhoods and road construction that must be avoided, but I still want to use turn-by-turn navigation.

i just checked the addresses I was having problems with on the www and they are way off as well. This seems to be a google maps problem in general. I am living in a somewhat rural city so this could be the problem .

I have this problem with my bank. It put it a few blocks north of where it is. No wonder I couldn't find it.

Mine has also had horrible GPS abilities! I was going to a new location today, a business. I typed in the address and ended up at a house... Luckily my garmin was in the glove compartment. I took it out, put in the address, and about 1.5miles away was my destination... Just horrible. The google maps brags about being 'online maps that always are up to date'... yea... yet it can't guide me to a simple address.

I have also had major problems with it knowing where I am. The 'my location' dot has been off for days at a time, rendering the GPS un-useable. After many restarts it has been working good(GPS has got signal) for a few days now... but as I said, it doesn't lead me to the correct location!!!!

What is odd is when I am sitting in my house, it shows me in my house('my location' right on my address by my street). But when I am out on the road and I navigate home it brings me about 2 blocks away from my house...

many bugs and many fixes that need to be done. Also needs more options that other GPS have such as detour, and the ability to dodge traffic and streets for other reasons.

These problems are happening in the Northwest suburbs of chicago. Odd because I figured since I live within 30mins of chicago in a major city that the maps would be pretty up to date and all would work well... guess I was wrong...

I sent in some feedback to google via their site or something a couple days ago. No phone customer service, no live chat, no easy way to contact them... that sucks... I am already signed up for too many forums, maybe I'll sign up / post there if I feel like it soon. I think they are getting plenty of complaints though. I have read about problems all over this phone. I hope they can post an update/fix very soon. Not like this is the first smart phone ever made or GPS ever made, shouldn't have so many problems.

My Droid seems very accurate with google nav. I do have a usability question though. How can I get it to display in navigation mode without a destination? I like the 3d nav mode because I can see upcoming street names and such, but cant seem to figure out how to get to this mode without an actual destination input.

Don't know if you can do that. Another thing I wondered is how do you make it dodge traffic and go around it? Or does that happen to be automatic and I just haven't realized???

There are many things they need to fix. I have heard in december there should be an update to fix many of the first problems. Lets hope the update actually does fix many of the problems we are having.
