Google Keyboard Setting as Default?

I can't find the setting on my phone where I can switch to Google Keyboard? I have Google Keyboard on my phone, but I think the keyboard reverted back to the stock keyboard. Where is the setting in controls to make it use Google? This would be for Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE

Settings/language and input/default keyboard, tick google keyboard

Got it. OK, well, it looks like I do have Google Keyboard activated.

What I'm confused about is the location of the microphone that you tap for voice capability. That microphone used to be down in the corner with other keys. But recently it has jumped up to the top on a line by itself. The keyboard and phone is already small enough as it is, but putting that microphone on a line by itself is taking up even more space. Does this make sense?
