Google Maps/GPS data use

Hi,

I have a HTC Wildfire S and have a question about using Google Maps. If I download a map on my Wifi at home of say, Manchester city centre, and then download this so I can use it offline, can I then be in Manchester city centre with GPS turned on on my phone to see where I am on the map, without using data?

GPS *on its own* does NOT use any of your data allowance as the phone is picking up satellite signals directly via its internal GPS aerial.
