I've planned a route on Google Maps on my laptop and am trying to find a way to import it into my phone to follow.
It doesn't appear in my saved places on my phone (linked account) and when I use Chrome to Phone it opens the map in my browser. Is there any way to import a route into my phone and follow it?

If you save your route as a KML file, there are other mapping apps that can import it. I can't recommend any one in particular because I've looking for other capabilities, but I've certainly seen some out there.

The 'Locus' app might work with Googles MyMap and imports KLM routes/tracks.

When I do a route on Google Maps and send it through Chrome to Phone and tap on the resulting notification, I am given the option of using Browser, Dolphin HD or Maps to open the link. If I choose Maps, it takes me directly to the route and then I can choose Navigation. It sounds like you have a default set that you should clear, probably in Chrome to Phone.
