    Hi,

I've lived with this problem long enough and searched for solutions to no avail, I hope someone here can help.

    1. I create a new contact on my phone and select my googlemail.com account when asked "create contact under account"?
    2. I save the newly added contact details
    3. I then synchronise the phone
    4. The newly created account gets deleted from the phone...

For clarification I'm not saving it to the SIM nor to the phone memory, just to my googlemail account.

I've read elsewhere that there might be a problem since google added gmail.com accounts in the UK. I now have 2 google accounts (gmail and googlemail) but in practice both seem identical, if I try to sign in to my googlemail account I end up in my gmail account so I doubt if this is the issue.

I've tried deleting my googlemail account from my phone with the intention of replacing it with my new gmail account but I get the message that other applications rely on this account and that the only way to remove the account is to do a factory reset.

If I create contacts in my gmail account off-line and synchronise my phone then these contacts appear on my phone as expected. It seems strange that this application should delete a newly added contact on the phone but that is exactly what happens. I know I'm not the only one whose experienced this but I've never seen a conclusive resolution, anyone here know how to solve this?

I look forward to hearing from you and thanks in anticipation.

sorry but no, not exactly this. However all I can tell you was that after I changed to gmail from googlemail I HAD to do a hard reset before my calendar would sync correctly. I hate it when the advice you get is 'reset it' but in my case it was the only thing that worked.
One more thing that you may want to try is that I had sync problems with other programs. I heard that if you get your network to remove any 'adult restriction' on your account it helps with syncing. As this restriction is a form of a block. It did help me when Orange allowed access to betting sites etc.

I am not sure if it is the same thing you are talking about or not, but heres what I've discovered. When I create a new contact and select google not phone as the type to save as, then fill the info in and save it, it isn't in my contacts on my phone. But if I hit the Search Key on the phone (magnifying glass) and type part of the name, then all of those ones that didn't show up are there. It's real weird, and kind of annoying. Any help to resolve this issue would be appreciated

    Well,

I bit the bullet and reset my phone to factory conditions and then started all over again.

This time I used my gmail account rather than the googlemail account that I originally had as the default google account on the phone.

This seems to have done the trick.

It's a shame that when google provide you with a new email address and port everything over to that new address that they don't also take care of issues such as this....
