So rather than tell people my number changed, I never bothered using Google Voice, even though I thought the transcribed voicemails were awesome. I had no idea you could have your regular voicemails routed to voice, so now I'm using it and loving it.

Now that my self indulgent rambling is over, I have a question for those using voice on 1.5.....does it work right? I'm using it on Leak V.3 and it's great, but before I tell my wife to try it out who is currently on 1.5, I want to make sure there are no bugs.

    Thanks.

I've been using it for 4 months now and it's worked great for me on 1.5. Before Google updated the app, I would get a force close the first time I opened the app after restarting my phone, but since the update a couple months ago, that no longer happens. I also like the push notifications for voicemails so I get notified much quicker than I did on the previous version. The only thing to be aware of is how forwarding all of your calls to GV for voicemail affects your minutes. Every time a call hits your Google voicemail box (even if the caller doesn't leave a message) it will count against your minutes. That being said, if you have a plan that has Friends and Family, you can add your GV number(s) to your F&F and you will not be charged out of network minutes every time a call goes to VM.

So you're saying that without me even using my phone, if someone leaves me a voicemail that is forwarded to my google voicemail box, it deducts from my monthly verizon minutes? Does it deduct based on how long the voicemail is or like 1 minute per message?

That's correct. When you forward unanswered calls to Google Voice rather than the standard Verizon VM, it is no different than forwarding the call to any other number outside of Verizon's network. I don't know this for sure, but my assumption would be that it deducts the total time from your monthly minutes. For instance, if you have a 30 second greeting and a caller leaves you a 2 minute voicemail, Verizon will probably deduct 3 minutes from your montly minutes. I don't know if it is still this way (because I haven't used Verizon's VM for a long time) but it used to be that when you would call in to Verizon's VM system to retrieve your messages, you would get charged for those minutes. With Google Voice, you aren't typically calling in to retrieve the message because you are using data rather than voice to retrieve messages. The same applies if you are using other 3rd party VM apps like YouMail, etc.

Yes, it is. I think there are some forum topics out there for invite requests though.
