google voice recognition not present

after hard reset of my htc g2 or hero the voice tab was missing of the google search bar can anyone help.Am from the uk and am on t mobile network any help appreciated.

Check what firmware version you have. If it's 1.5 as far as I am aware it does not have Google voice recognition. At least mine doesn't and I cant download it. I am on orange and in the UK too.
2.1 due later this month or early April will carry voice recognition.

My Hero on T-Mobile (android 1.5) has the google voice search. It just came with the phone so I've no idea how you could turn it off or on.

Pace 960: I think you are mixing things up with the voice dialling or voice search on the phone (ie.e contacts etc), but you can search Google by speaking.

Do a search online for voicesearch.apk and install it from your SDcard there are lots of sites hosting it.

I think that TMobile's G2 is the only Hero that comes with voicesearch - I have never found it on my Orange Hero.
