GPS takes 20+ mins to load?

I have a samsung vibrant, and my GPS takes a good 20 mins before it finds my location and will give me directions to my destination... By the time it registers the GPS, I am at my location. Until then, it just says "Searching for GPS..."

My phone was rooted, so I unrooted it and the problem is still here! The tutorials for solving this say open the dialer and type like *#*#1436526#*#* or something like that, then press call. once I try the last *, the dialer just exits and nothing happens.. this is very frustrating, anyone know a solution? Thanks

Install 'GPS Status', let it load A-GPS Data, let it find satellites and close it.
Then start your GPS app like Maps.
