Just thought I'd post this as an FYI for all who kept their alltel plans but got a Droid Incredible (or any VZW phone). I had the smartphone plan with Alltel. $90/month and unlimited data, texting. Kept my plan when I switched to a Droid Incredible in April whe they were released. Everything was great until I took a vacation to see friends. I live in TX and went to KY to see friends. Used the phone like normal all the time I was gone. Got home and the bill came in. I was hit with $70 worth of roaming fees! I had the nationwide plan with no roaming fees. When I called about the bill, I was given the speech that basically says, Your plan doesn't exist anymore, we can't help you with roaming fees, if you don't want to have roaming fees in the future, you need to change to a VZ plan. Tried to calmly inform the lady that I should have been grandfathered, that even if my plan "didn't" exist anymore, it should have been honored. Hung up on her, a couple of minutes went by, and she called back. spent over an hour on the phone with her discussing the problem. I finally just switched to a new plan. I hated too, I don't think it's as good of a plan as what i had, but I don't want to worry about roaming fees every time I leave home. just my .02 of what I encountered.
