    **Evil Eris users look here** http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670087

    This is for everyone who gets the "Insufficient space available" message when trying to install an app on a ROM with Apps2SD support. You need to partition your SD card! Here are steps on how to partition your SD card.

    1. BACKUP your SD card! Partitioning will erase everything on your SD card. Mount your Eris to your computer and copy everything on your SD card into a separate folder on your computer.
    2. Boot into recovery. (Hold the Volume up and Power button at the same time)
    3. When you are in recovery, choose Partition sdcard.
    4. Select Partition SD
    5. Choose your swap size. (I chose 32MB)
    6. Select the size of your partition. (I chose 512MB)
    7. After partitioning, choose SD:ext2 to ext3 from the Partition sdcard menu.
    8. Reboot your phone.
    9. Make sure you have Apps2SD checked under Settings > Applications. (You don't have to do this with some ROMs)
    10. To check if you have partitioned your SD card correctly, go to Settings > SD card & phone storage > SD card secondary. (Some ROMs don't show this)
    11. Copy your backup of your SD card back to your SD card.
    12. You can now run Apps2SD in any ROM that supports it.

    When flashing ROMs with Apps2SD support, you no longer have to reinstall your apps. (This isn't always true for some ROMs with Apps2SD support, thanks MJL)

    Edit: Part of Step 8 is now Step 9 to avoid confusion.

    I kinda figured partitioning your card was common knowledge if people were using as2d but meh.

    Step 8 isnt always true, not all roms have GUI as2d support.

    Some roms claim to have a2sd support but arent running one universal a2sd script. So you may think you dont have to reinstall your apps when moving to different roms but when you get to that bootloop, its most likely because your previous a2sd script is conflicting with the one on the newly installed rom. To get past the bootloop, you will need to wipe ext partition in recovery, effectively negating one of the conveniences of a2sd.

    Believe me, it's not. I had to REALLY dig here and at the XDA forums before finding out how to actually do setup for app2sd. Based on comments like 'partition your SD card' it was clear that plenty of people assume this procedure is common knowledge. It's good to have it nicely laid out like this.

    The noob instructions usually start with ' flash something'. Huh? The minor detail of copying the file to be flashed to the root (what's the root?) of the SDcard and renaming it to update.zip is never mentioned.

    You can install any new app onto your SD as long as you have Apps2SD enabled.

    Just wanted to say thanks for this guide. I didn't need it but it's nice to see that people are helping out new people who don't want to get called out as 'noob' or something when they ask questions like this. Thanks for your time mate!
    Cheers!

    Well as long as the apps are not being installed on the internal memory, you should be fine.

    Ok, the first application I downloaded is ES File Explorer. How can I check to see if it was installed on the SD card or internal memory?

    1. I rooted to Evil Eris 3.0

    2. Followed the above instructions of the OP

    3. installed ES File Explorer

    4. Updated "facebook" and "google maps" applications

    I now have 76.85mb of free space.

    Did you install A2sd after you loaded EE3.0? I don't think it comes preloaded in that ROM.

    I tried to put that zipped folder on then press up and power key and follow the instructions from the xdaa site. maybe i did something wrong?

    anyone want to post up a guide for me to install a2sd correctly?

    I suggest installing a large app to test. Go check how much internal memory you have first. Then download an app (I suggest to download Sweet Notes). After downloading the app, your internal memory should not go down.

    if you have not setup your sd card (for those new to a2sd):
    A. backup your sd card to your computer. can't stress this enough, as partitioning will wipe the entire card.
    B. Reboot into recovery
    c. In android system recovery, select partition sdcard
    d. In the partition sdcard menu, select partition sd
    e. Follow the instructions on the phone to partition your sd card. You can optionally set a swap file while you are partitioning your sd card.
    F. In the partition sdcard menu, select sd:ext2 to ext3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
    G. only perform this step if you want ext4 and your rom supports it: in the partition sdcard menu, select sd:ext3 to ext4. Follow the instructions on the sdcard.
    h. Press the back button on the phone to go back to the main menu.
    I. Put the a2sd file on the sd card (and all your other files you backed up earlier) by selecting usb-ms toggle and transfer the files to your computer.

    i did all of that above. ....trying to figure this out i just don't want to fudge up anything.
    then after that is done just plac ethe a2sd file on the sd card the zipper folder?

    EDIT::
    and transfer the files to your computer.
    and transfer the files from your computer to the sd card.

    I got it now. I think. will post if it is a success.

    still isn't working for me. i followed these direcitons.

    1. Download the program from the previous post.
    2. Determine if you have setup your sd card with an ext partition

    if you have not setup your sd card (for those new to a2sd):
    A. backup your sd card to your computer. can't stress this enough, as partitioning will wipe the entire card.

    3. In recovery, select flash zip from sdcard.
    4. In flash zip from sdcard, select the a2sd package file you downloaded earlier. Press home to flash.
    5. Reboot phone.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    anyone care to help me out and explain how to get a2sd working correctly since clearly i'm doing something wrong. i've tried 3 times now and can't get it to work. :(
    When I installed a2sd I just installed it like any other apk and used my file manager to find it on the SD card. After I installed it I restarted the phone and everything was moved to the SD card. I have read where some have had to install this patch as well to get a2sd running on EE3.0 http://www.darktremor.info/files/eris/ee3kernel-signed.zip
    WTF! I'm getting annoyed at this damn phone. Maybe it's user error? Can anyone list instructions on how to partition the sd card (i believe what the original poster said is how you do it). then place everything back on sd card. have a file explorer and search through the "a2sd-2.7-update3r1-signed" folder and download the .apk file
    after it's installed reboot the phone. ether way i'm getting lost on this step...
    9. Make sure you have Apps2SD checked under Settings > Applications. (You don't have to do this with some ROMs)
    10. To check if you have partitioned your SD card correctly, go to Settings > SD card & phone storage > SD card secondary.
    if i go to settings > applications i don''t see anything also....
    in step 10. i never see SD CARD SECONDARY!??!!
    I've followed the steps multiple times but it never partitions the sd card.
    **edit**
    http://www.droid-eris.com/tutorials-corner/how-to-install-apps2sd-with-evil-eris-3-0/
    about to try that.
    do i need to flash evil eris 3.0 with that update from that link? like flash it like a rom. like when i first installed evil eris 3.0? ((press up key and power button; go into boot mode and flash the evil eris 3.0 update to the system??? kind of like a rom? )))
    damnit, i wish someone would just give me there phone number so i can figure this out. :( shrug
