well I followed all the directions, did the reboot of my phone into recovery and pressed the keys like it said to do.

Now it goes through the process/etc

But after the reboot of the phone, its still not rooted?

Not sure if thats much help?

I just had a few questions about that "tfupdate.img" from Huawei. I did download it from their site and I see it is a firmware update. But I just wanted to confirm, does it just erase the root and uninstall the Play Store, or does it completely erase everything on the phone? Also, since I am rooted, would it be okay to do this upgrade?

It flashes the system and recovery from what Ive seen but it wont touch your data so your apps are safe. Basically its the stock rom with all your data still there. Since its reflashing the system it will unroot your device but the same root method still works ^^ I flash it all the time when I get stuck in my multiple boot loops. So its good to keep it in the root of your SD card in case anything goes wrong :p

Ah, thank you, PandaHacker. I will more than likely update my firmware tonight then. Oh, and one other thing. I have a small concern about the SU Binary. Every time I try to update it, it gives me this message, "Fixing database... fail!" So I was just wondering if there is a solution to this yet, or should I just hang on a little longer for a fix?

Try using the tfupdate.img then re root the phone. I'll look more into it if that doesn't fix it

Sure I can. Also, if you need anything else I'll be glad to assist in any way that I can.

*Sorry, didn't see that BlazingFire258 had already posted one.

Trust me when I say that rerooting your phone doesn't fix this. I've had to use the tfimage like 5 times and rerooted my phone 5 times, you should know Panda ;P, and that hasn't fixed anything. Just try to update the su binary on your phone and watch how of fails lol :p

No worries, no we just have more evidence about the su binary not updating :D

Lol, awesome, and I hope we can get this issue fixed soon.

Wow...wonder what we're doing wrong. But if you turn anything up please lets us know. I haven't updated my phone yet, so I'm not sure if it will fix the binary issue for me or not, but I'll check and see if it does. I'll post a screenshot if all goes well.

Alright, I updated and re-rooted my phone. Just like BlazingFire258 had explain, it doesn't work. So I'm not sure as to what the problem could be. :-/

*Just wondering, would the "---sr---wt" have anything to do with the fail update?

The heck?????? I don't understand either now, even from the get go of when I first rooted my phone I was never able to update the such binary, strange indeed 0_o

Yeah it might have to do something with the file permissions.

    Run
    "adb shell"
    "su"
    "chmod 6755 /system/bin/su"

That will fix the file permissions and you should be golden :D

Thanks for the info about the permissions change, and I did it. Now it shows "-rwsr-sr-x" as you can see in the screenshot. But I ran the binary update again and still got the fail message. :(

Is there anything else I can try?

*I did some more digging and found a post that mentions the Superuser website. I checked it out and saw there was a .zip download of the updated binary. So I will try to flash it and see if it fixes the issue. I also welcome the idea of someone else trying it as well and seeing if it fixes the binary update issue for them. ;)

Success! :D I figured out how to manually update the su binary. Just to validate, check the screenshots below.

I was able to flash the binary update and it worked like a charm. I'll attach the su binary update .zip for anyone that needs it. You can also download it from the Superuser website as well. Enjoy!

Ah, kk. Also, I did seem to run into another problem. Now that the binary has been updated, it seems the su won't grant certain apps permissions. I even used a root checker and it told me that my phone does not have proper root access.

Guess I'll use that tfupdate, re-root, then re-flash the binary update again to see if it fixes anything.

Are the permissions set correctly? Also try updating busybox with one of the installers in the play store. So far or phone only supports busybox 19.3 as it's latest version.

Well I did re-update, and re-root, but this time around su was able to set the permissions for itself to do the binary update without me flashing the binay update. It did download but when it tried to mount the update it failed. So I closed out of su, re-opened it, and it showed that the binary was updated. Which was weird, but I said okay. So then I installed Busybox Pro and it was successful. But my problem comes from two apps that I have, avast! Mobile Security and AirDroid. Every time I try to use a root feature for them, I run into a problem with them not having permission even though I get a message from su saying it granted them permission.
