Root Guide to Rooting 2.2 for Windows and Linux

I am using the linux method andI am stuck when it comes to installing the update.zip. When I fet into the boot loader before I even select the option to apply the sdcard.update.zip, there is a message at the bottom of the scree that says E:Can't open /cache/recover/command. I tried to apply the update.zip and I get
Install from sd card
Findind update package...
opening update package...
verifying update package...
E:signiture verification failed
Installation aborted.


I dont know what I am missing and could use some help. I ended up formatting my SD card and applied the files mentioned in this tutorial to see if that would work, but I still have the same issue.
