I like how handcent works and would like to use it. My problem is that the double notifications from the native application drives me crazy. Is there a way to use handcent and remove or disable the native app?

    Thanks for your help!!!

go to the settings of the main app, scroll down and you can either disable the notifications, or disable auto-retrieve.

Go to settings in the native messaging app and uncheck notifications so they are turned off. also, if you use an app killer like advanced task killer free, then just check the native app when you open up atk, and eventually it will stop running.

Also, you cant remove the default application. You can only silence it :)

The negative effect of removing the native messaging app is that you will no longer receive MMS messages and your sender won't receive any error message. You'll be able to send MMS, and regular SMS works fine, both sending and receiving.

I use Handcent and still get double notifications. I have tried disabling notifications in the native messaging app, but that doesn't stop the double notifications. I later thought I had found the problem when I realized that Ringo Lite might be causing this. But I uninstalled that app and still get double notifications.
