Handcent SMS notification issue

I have searched and can't find a solution to this problem. It's driving me crazy because I want to like Handcent. The native message app is popping up notifications for every text even though I disabled notifications for it. Also, older text notifications show up in the native message app form also when I get new texts. Again, I HAVE disabled notifications for the native messaging app. I have also updated Handcent SMS to the latest software. Any advice for this? Thanks!

Tried it, still getting the pop-ups

Try doing a soft reset by pulling out the battery WHILE the phone is ON. An application my not have closed properly, or something like that. Then restart and you will hopefully be good.

I disabled pop-ups within Handcent and it seems to be working. Also, I did do the soft reset. Thanks

Make sure you turn off not only the notifications in the native SMS app, but also the updates. It's in the same menu.
