okay so I bought my vibrant a couple weeks ago (used to have a G1) and today i go on my tmobile account page. SURPRISINGLY enough my account says my phone is the vibrant i never changed it because since i bought it from someone outside of tmobile i didnt believe that i could change my phone on the account to the vibrant but its there so im just confused how could this be?

and it says i have the PHP bundle (premium handset protection) on my phone so does that mean if something happens to my phone i can get a replacement from tmobile?

Not something I've heard of before, though I expect they can simply ID the phone you're using by it's IMEI number. As far as the handset protection goes, did you have that on your G1? If so they likely just carried it over. That's what they did when I went from a BlackBerry Bold 9700 to my Vibrant. It should cover you if you lose or fold/spindle/mutilate your phone.

im sorry i think i forgot to mention i didnt buy the phone from tmobile i bought it off someone so thats why im so confused on how they could have changed it from the g1 to the vibrant and i know tmobile doesnt transfer over the handset protection if you buy it off of someone but its still there so im confused. the only thing i can think of is that i called tmobile about a week after i got the vibrant and the the customer rep. that i had just bought the vibrant and avatar wasnt working on it and if she could help she told me no but would it be possible that she changed it without telling me and left the handset protection on there??

can i call tmobile and ask them if i have insurance or is that a bad idea??

Yes, you did mention you bought the phone elsewhere than T-Mobile, but I didn't realize you'd talked to T-Mobile. The rep might have changed it or, as I suggested, they might have picked up your IMEI number and changed it, though that seems less likely.

About the insurance...hmm...that could be a problem. You usually can't add insurance to a used phone as far as I know and if you ever need to put a claim in you could end up being denied because you bought the phone from a third party.

This is assuming you want the insurance of course. If not, I think you should be able to log into your account and cancel it. If you do want it...well, perhaps someone else out here can provide more information or you could go to a T-Mobile store and ask about it. And preferably not the store you'd go to if you ever needed to make a claim!

I actually want the insurance just in case something happens to my vibrant that I love. How would the customer rep know the imei number just from a phone call?

Not the rep, rather that info is transmitted every time you make any call. I don't know enough about how the system works, but my thought was maybe it was automatically updated. Then again, you did tell the rep you had a Vibrant...

yeah I would just be so happy if somehow the insurance was transfered over by mistake. Ill be less scared if something was to happen to my phone now lol I play lots of sports and would die if my phone was to be stolen or break during that time but with insurance I can breath a lil easier.

I'm interested in this as well. Has anyone here had experience with filing an insurance claim for t-mobile? I know claims go through assurion, but do you need like a receipt? Otherwise it sounds like you're good to go with the PHP.
