Have you seen this droid error screen?

I have just had to wipe and restore my motorola droid. Couldn't check email, or reprogram. Any *number call brought up a screen of a droid in what looked like a shopping mall and there would be a banner ad link above. No menu options available so I couldn't see that it was linked to any program, but it did seem shopping related so the market place widget was the likely suspect. After much time discussing it with tier 2 tech support they had me wipe and restore. I'm attaching a picture I took of the screen. Any ideas what it means?

Maybe it's not really an error screen per se, but it sure seems like an error that it is showing up. May it never come back.

Sure looks like that to me. Probably an app that does just a little more than is advertised. This is the one thing that is good about Apple's approval process, you are very unlikely to get apps on there that skim passwords, take over your phone, etc, etc

The VZ tech rep had me wipe my phone and start over. That got rid of it. Since then, I've replaced my phone with an now Droid because the reception at my house was terrible and the Blackberry next to it had 3 bars when the Droid had 0. The new unit has better reception in the same location so I think I might stay with Droid. BB was stellar for phone and email and that's job 1. The toy factor with the Droid is X10x better,but I need to run the business first. missed calls = lost $$ sad to say.

I've been having the droid man show up on mine as well, it just started today, mine are varied though, theres one where hes eatin a hotdog, then the one you showed, one where hes typing on a laptop, playing football, giving a political speech, there are tons of them, cuz he wuz just havin a drink at a bar!!! OMG!!! WTF??? Im headeing to Verizon rite now, will let ya'll know wut they say!

This probably isn't it, but you know those apps that say you can view a pic right after you hang up a call? Could this be like that? Maybe an app like that, but disguised as a diff app all together? Besides, what purpose do those apps serve, anyway?

I figured it out, i had installed the app scientific calculator, before u start it the first time a message comes up that states the download includes software that makes the droid man appear after a call is placed, so i uninstalled it and ta-da problem solved!!!

radikal- I had the same problem with an app you also have installed, Petcam. Read the reviews for it in the market, if they are the same as a few weeks ago when I uninstalled many people were complaining about the problem. Fixed it for me.
