if it helps - what worked for me was to connect phone to Samsung Kies - google account name appears on one of the tabs and I was then able to use that to reset my pattern lock. fortunately for me I could remember my password but if you can't then using google password recovery is the way to go. This meant I didn't need to hard reset phone.

This solution will guide you to remove
pattern lock on recovery using aroma
file manager.
What you need.

- Rooted
- CWM
- Aroma file manager
get it
Step 1 - Boot to recovery
Step 2 - Mount/system
Step 3 - Flash aroma file manager.
Step 4 - go to data/system
and delete Password.key( if u forgot password) or delete gesture.key (if u forgot pattern lock)
Step 5 - reboot!

This process doesnot wipe ur any data but in factory reset phone data will wipe.

Hey why to pay that much for a pffff... type of problem...

1.goto recovery mode.
2.wipe data and cache.
3.reboot.

So simple...!!!!

it just costs 40 coulomb of energy to do this...
