    Hello all,
I searched the forum a few times and cannot find any info on this, so I am sorry in advance for any redundancy.

Since my upgrade to round #2 of the 2.1 leak, (which I love) I am always finding out that I have anywhere from 9 - 13 apps running out of the blue. I use ATK to kill them, but even when not opening apps, when I kill, there will be so many that were running.

Question is, does anyone else have this problem, and what do I need to do to keep them from starting by themselves? Very frustrating when the phone lags because of this. Besides that, it kills the battery.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

some apps need to run. like system apps.
some apps run because u have them (knowing or not) updating and "checking in".
other than that nothing should be running. botnets for android phones arent out...yet! :)
    i qoute from android central:

There are many apps that need to stay alive to use all of their features. You'll have to do a bit of thinking before you decide if you can just kill off an app. Here's a general idea of what to think about:
Apps that remind you of something

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I get that. But, just an example for you...
I just did a kill 15 minutes ago. Now, I have these apps running without manually starting them.
    *People
    *HTC Checkin Service (2 instances)
    *MP3 Store
    *Settings
    *AppBrain Market Sync

Why are these starting my themselves? Never had this problem with 1.5

    people is the phonebook.
htc checkin service is a service provider that i believe facebook or gmail needs to run. basically its a function of sense.
    mp3 store??
    settings??
app brain is a config issue. its set to sync. if u turn that off (dont know if u can or cannot) it will not restart.
somethings need to and will run regardless if u kill them momentarily or not.

Yes, MP3 store and setting are 2 that are always on the list. What would I need to do to kill the app brain if it is possible?

I know some things need to run, but like I said, I never had all of these running before my upgrade to 2.1, the second round.

for app brain u need to go into the settings to change the update schedule.
matter fact...im going to re-download it now.
no option to change the update schedule...i would suggest checking the website. every time i close mine in task manager it stays closed.

Those processes are essential to have the phone work right. They built these into 2.1 which is way you are seeing this now and not when you were using 1.5.

Some apps are a part of the OS and will restart when killed. In 1.5 a few were footprints, peep, and stocks. In 2.1 it's settings and mp3 store. Nothing you can do about it and they do not hurt battery life. Mine is better than ever.
