Hello all, hope everyone is doing good today.

I recently got Big Red's Samsung Fascinate. After coming off of the Droid Pro, I didn't think I would like it. I've been through every type of OS, different builds, old and new devices, and honestly I would have to say Samsung is my number 2 for products (RIM ofcourse being number 1 :) ). So today I decided I was going to root my device, that way I could get VZW's annoying bloatware off of my phone.

I followed the instructional video shown here:

I reached the home stretch of the root process and I went ahead and launched SuperUser on my device to check and see if the root was a success. It asks me to update su binary files and ofcourse I proceed. Then all goes well until it gets here "Checking currently install path... fail!" OUCH! Then under that it reads, "Failed to find currently installed su binary, update cannot continue.

I'm not sure what's going on with that. I went to my Android files via my computer and tryed to click on the "System" folder, but it couldn't be found even though the icon was there.

I was curious if anyone knew how I could resolve this issue so that I may continue to utalize the root and remove the crumby bloatware.

    Thanks so much for reading!

I think you just need to flash superuser in recovery. The app needs binaries in place to work properly. You should be able to download them here

This thread is where I found those, seems to be the issue you are having, as always make a nandroid prior to flashing those.

Your system should be mounted as r/o so the cpu wouldn't be able to see it, download root explorer from the market and you can view any system files you wish.

Ok, thanks a bunch for your help. But I'm not exactly a pro at this, so could you break what you just said down in noob fashion? Can I just download the zip and unzip it into the system folder on my device then redo the root process?

No download the zip, then put it on your SD still in zip form. Now boot into recovery, (hold volume up and down while powered off then hold the power button as well. Hold them all down for about 4-5 Seconds after the SAMSUNG screen shows. Then you will be in Recovery.
To control, use the Volume + & -
Press the Home Key for your selection
Menu Key goes back to the "!" Screen and vise versa.

Choose flash zip from SD, navigate to the zip file and flash it, then choose to reboot.

And that's it? It'll be rooted like that?

That should get superuser working on your phone.
