Hi all i really need some help with this tablet before i throw it out of the window.
Its a gs701b it cant get a wifi connection, it was connected but it suddenly lost it and now i cant get it back.
When i try to go on google play store i keep getting a message saying something about can not get a reliable connection?
I am also trying to find drivers so i can connect to my laptop but cant seem to find anywhere.
Also if someone can talk me through how to root it would be great as i have read that rooting it might help.
    Thanks for any advice. xx

Hello Suexzoe welcome to Android Forums. :)

Did you buy it from Ebay? Shipped from China? I know the feeling.

This is a cheapo off-brand tablet from an unknown manufacturer. Fluky and faulty WiFi is a very frequent issue with them, as well as many other problems. Probably best course of action is to get an RMA, and return it for a refund.

As for rooting, you could try some of the usual generic rooting tools like SuperOneClick, failing that almost no chance. You can sometimes get lucky if you can read technical Chinese.

You might want to read our forum sticky about these things...

I have rooted mine and it is actually very easy considering how hard it is to find information on it

you will need to install adb shell (I am not familiar with windows) and have the drivers for the device, pdanet usually has them even though the program is for other things.

Then you need to open the adb program and push the software onto the phone/tablet

I created a how to here for linux/Ubuntu operating systems but from the adb program it should all be the same, I will post it in a bit

I have this tablet as of today, and I was hoping you could help me out. I'm on windows 7 x64 with android sdk installed. USB debugging is enabled on the tablet, and I've downloaded and installed PdaNet (from the website: PdaNet+ -- Internet Sharing for Android). So far, ADB refuses to acknowledge the device. ADB recognises my Samsung Admire, so I'm sure it's a problem with the tablet. Any advice?

EDIT: I have resolved my issue by following advice found in this thread at XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1979248&page=3

As suggested, a google search for gl5201-adbdriver.zip yielded this download page: http://www64.zippyshare.com/v/53546226/file.html

Make sure to put the adb_usb.ini in the proper location (c:\users\<your username>\.android) to ensure this works.
