I need help rooting my Pantech Breakout. I tried gingerbreak, z4mod, and superoneclick with no luck. Anybody know of another way to root the Pantech Breakout? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advances.

I was able to root today.

see the link to see how myself and others did it.

i followed the manual instructions here

    i ran
push Superuser.apk to /system/app and push su to /system/bin.
    Then back into adb shell:
    chmod 644 /system/app/Superuser.apk
    chmod 4755 /system/bin/su

rebooted and i was good to go.

I tried to follow your steps but I got to the first step and got an error failed to copy Superuser.apk to /system/app/Superuser.apk read only file system. What am I doing wrong? Is there another way to root the Pantech Breakout 4G?

I followed the steps in the link and it said it finished successfully but when I rebooted my phone and opened busybox installer pro it said I did not have root access same thing in root explore.

You have to do all the steps first to get local shell root. then once you have that then push the apk and su files. then reboot after that.

    from another thread

The autoscript from doomlord for zergroot didn't work for me, but the manual method did.

Go to step two on this page, and it provides a pdf of the easiest to understand instructions I've ever seen.

But do download the doomlord files, because you will need them for rooting.

It appears we aren't to that point. We can achieve root through an exploit, but as far as I know right now we are limited to that..

    newraze, all:

I hope you don't mind, but I fixed the thread title :).

Hope you guys also noticed the new template root guide we've seeded here in your forum.

Please let me (or another Guide) know when you're ready to have it updated with anything you feel is good and/or important to include.

    Cheers and good luck!

Hi im new to rooting but decently good with computers. i have a pantech breakout from verizon. i have tried to root my phone for 3 days but have major problems along the way right now i am stumped on how to fix the "Helions with blue fire !" problem while rooting my phone. after this problem is finished i believe i will need the su binaries. sadly i do not believe i have the su binaries because i didnt download them hahaha. also i have updated my breakout and i am using the zergRush exploit. thank you and good rooting

I have tried SuperOneClick, and can't seem to find zergRush without being spammed. I would really like to find a way to root my phone. It's supposed to come with an 8gb sd card. But memory is horrible. All of the apps that came with the phone just take up too much space. I am familiar with the root process. But this one is quite interesting. I have tried the suggestions on here, with no luck. I have hidden the apps, but they are still running in the background. Even with task manager, and a cache cleaner. What now????

Try using the All-in-one cwm recovery on this forum to flash the cwm recovery then flash the rom on this forum to your phone. It frees up a lot of memory and is already rooted as well. All I would recommend is to uninstall the launcher that comes with the rom and install a launcher from the android market.
