Well I own and S3 and have previously owned an HTC device before and like both, but I might lean towards the HTC One. I'm really not aware of how much they might've changed on the S4 really and basically you can do no wrong when choosing between Samsung or HTC. I'd say HTC One, but depends on what you want out of the two. :)

yeah i like how HTC just revamped everything the S4 look just like the S3 with a few tweeks which i hate and its the reason im leaving my iPhone. plus i really like the blink feed and ultra megapixel camera, not to mention the sound. thank you for your input

No prob. The S4 does look pretty revamped and not much different from the S3 really. I was talking to a friend of mine and I don't want the S4 for that reason and the other one, IMO, that it seemed a little too soon for them to be coming out with the S4 already. I'm sure it's nice, but I would go with the HTC One in my honest opinion. :)

yeah thats what i was thinking, i really like the whole look and feel of the phone i went to my local sprint and tried it out and was pretty impressed, the only thing i might miss from my iphone would be itunes but I'm sure i can get used to that. thank you for you help tho, i really appreciate it

I am also looking at two video reviews between the the two devices and the HTC One looks good and different from the rest of the other HTC devices. The S4 has a few more features that the S3 lacks, but other than that it looks like a bigger slightly different S3. :)

It depends on what features are most important to you. Coming from iPhone, the HTC one might be a better choice from a build quality/materials standpoint, but that's not the only thing you should base the decision on.

honestly thats probably my main reason for leaning towards the htc one, i pretty much use the phone for texting, browsing the web, and social media

I'll be getting the Galaxy S4 within the next few days, they're are a few features I like on the HTC One but they're are allot more on the Galaxy S4 so it's not a difficult choice for me.

The one thing i'm concerned about is the lack of storage available on Galaxy S4 for applications, only the 16GB version available and only 8GB of that is available to the user.

I'm in the same boat. I'm currently using an iPhone 4S and I'm torn between the GS4 and the One. This will be my first Android phone after being on iOS for the last 6yrs.

The big thing for me is the camera. The 4S takes great shots (of course lighting has a lot to do with it too....and maybe an app or 3 :D ) Anyhow, I'm leaning towards the GS4 because of the camera. I know the One takes excellent low light shots, but from what I've seen for brightly lit or day light shots, the One lacks the detail when the pictures are viewed large. The GS4 retains that detail in it's shots. Sure, again from what I've seen, the GS4's pix may be lacking a little in the color saturation dept., but that's nothing an app can fix.

So for now, since I can't upgrade for a month, I'll continue to do my homework.

Remember that anything you can read on the web is only part of the story. You really should see/handle both for real before making any choice. You may decide you'd be fine with either. Or you may find that one is much more comfortable than the other, or one screen looks better to you (you can't tell from a photo what they are really like). These are things you can't learn any other way.

Picked up the S4 on friday and loving it, the screen is fantastic, camera is very impressive and the camera software is a huge improvement over S3.

Only complaint is there was some lag out of the box, it's very easy to correct but Samsung really shouldn't overlook these things.

So, I ordered a HTC One developer edition, which arrived with dust underneath the screen. I sent it back, and now two weeks later I am informed by HTC that my order has been delayed and that my new exchanged phone won't ship until May 31. Understandably, I canceled the exchange, and am now faced with the dilemma. The only carrier I will use is T-Mobile, and they only offer the One in 32gb and the S4 in 16gb. Now, all things set aside I prefer the One but I have a lot of media on my phone and 32gb, while probably enough, would leave me with little breathing room. On the other hand, with the S4, I would be able to us a SD, but the small internal memory (only 9gb available to users) means that I will have little room for games and other large apps. Which one do you think I should go with? I will be making my order tonight.

The S4 not only does it have a Micro SD card slot, it also has a way better camera!

There's a couple threads dealing with this:
    http://androidforums.com/device-carrier-comparisons/716179-help-s4-htc-one.html
    http://androidforums.com/device-car...ndecisive-htc-one-s4-overall-convenience.html

But remember that the S4 has a microSD slot. For only ~$20, you can get a 32GB microSD card for it.

If storage is the only thing that you're mostly concerned about, I'd go with the S4 unless you're sure that 32GB is enough for you.
Both are great devices, so there's not really a "WRONG" choice. Just one that is better suited to your preferences. :)

I purchased the S4 and tried it for a few days. I switched from an iPhone 5. I decided earlier this week to try the HTC One and I was very impressed with the build quality. So far the battery life and phone functionality have been great. I would recommend the HTC One.

    Hey everyone,
I am about to order a new smartphone, I just can't decide between the Galaxy S4 or the HTC One.
They are both new phones, and both have exceptional processors and hardware etc, but there are few things that tie my vote.
Im a 15 year old boy and i want a phone that feels good in the hand (taking into account I have small hands), I also want a good camera on my phone for mainly daytime photos on holiday etc. Good quality sound and multi tasking are two other factors affected my choice.
Taking all this into account, if anyone could provide a non biased explanation of which phone i should choose it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks :)

Hi Chedex12, and welcome to AF :)

If the feel and handling of the phone are important, the best advice I can give is to go to a shop and try them yourself. I also have small hands, and for me the One feels better (the tapered back is more comfortable, and it's slightly less far to stretch my thumb to reach across the screen). But that's my hands, not yours - you might find less difference, or you might find both too big to be comfortable. The only way to know what feels good to you is to try them yourself.

Both should be powerful enough to multitask, and both have the same RAM. I'd not personally be concerned there.

As for the camera, if you want to crop part of the image, and are shooting in daylight then the S4's pixel count will give you more detail to work with (the One will win in low light, but that's not your priority). If you want to view the pictures on the screen or on a computer then either should be fine - remember that the One's 4.3 Mpixels are still twice as many as a 1080p screen contains. The One has a wider-angle camera than the S4 and a 16:9 ratio rather than 4:3 - which you prefer is personal, and may depend on what type of thing you shoot.

The One has better speakers, I've never used either with headphones so can't really comment there.

The screens are both good, but different. Which you'll prefer is a matter of personal taste.

If you store a lot of media the S4 has sd card expansion, but less internal memory (unless you can find the 32GB version, which depends on where you are/what carrier). You can't use the sd card for apps.

I honestly can't say which would be better for you. Both are good, but different. But at the risk of repetition, I think the most important thing is to go see them both yourself and see whether you simply like one better than the other.

Firstly, thanks for the response :)

On the topic of the camera, is the 4.3 Megapixel camera good enough for uploading good quality photos to social network sites (e.g. Facebook and Instagram)
Also how is the battery life?
  22. chanchan05

    chanchan05 The Doctor Guide

Can't say for batteryblife, but the camera should be more than enough. As it is, social networking sites don't upload full res photos from phones anyway, and the pictures are resized to something like 2mp. Unless you plan on uploading via PC with high res upload settings, the camera should be more than enough.

As well, a bit off topic but do you have any network recommendations which have high speed internet?
    Much appreciated :)

    Hello Everyone,

I want your opinion an honest one. My iphone 4s was stolen about 6 months ago and my BB is crapping out on me, speaker not working, screen has black dots all over it. Now I plan to buy a new phone unlocked here in Thailand.

The choices lie in HTC One or Samsung galaxy S4 (Octa-core model Exynos 5). I love the design of the HTC one, but I plan to buy thing phone and want to make sure it lasts me 2 years or so. I had a chance to play around with S4 in the shop it was stuttering quite a bit, that can be fixed with rooting and custom rom and also latest update seems to have fixed that lag issue according to the forums.

I had only 1 galaxy phone before and it was a Galaxy S I had signal issues with it the only way they could fix it in O2 was to downgrade the firmware which sucked since I lost many functions.
Anyway when I look at Super Amoled HD screen on S4, I liked it, colors pop out, however I know that those colors are not real, most are over saturated or have a blueish tint to it.

What are your experiences with both of these phone? I have not seen HTC one (only dummy phone) not a single shop here in Thailand has any in stock or they wont agree to pop box open for you to play around with. I held the dummy phone felt really good in the hand.

P>S The only S4 in TH is 16GB version heard its got aroun 9GB left which is not much considering a lot of apps cant be moved to SD. Can you recommend me which one to get or list any pros and cons you found with a phone. Battery life is important for me although I do have external 8400 mah battery with me just in case. And how about to buy phone accessories from Everbuying.com or other online shopping website something?

    Thank you.
