help with custom ringtone apps!!!

Hello! I just recently purchased the HTC EVO 4g, and boy is it lovely.

im trying to use a custom ringtone maker app, and have used both myxer and ringdroid, and both are great. however, once i make a ringtone or notification tone from an audio file, the new file is seriously messed up. it always sounds like its, for lack of a better term, "chopped and screwed." i can always do it from my computer and send it but i'd rather just do it mobile. both apps gave me the same results, and i also tried it on multiple audio files (up to 10 of them)

any help/suggestions? the phone is brand new so there shouldnt be any problems... hopefully.

What are you trying to make the ringtones from?

some of my own mp3 files

i just used ASTRO to move the files over to the ringtones and notification tones folder. that worked but they are only the original audio files, and i wanted to clip em. i guess i can live with that until i can figure out whats going on.

Hmm, it shouldnt be messing with the files at all, it should just trim them. Are they DRM mp3's from itunes maybe? Are they an odd codec like flac or lame?
