Root Help with Rooting

okay I understand the whole rooting thing, but i can not find an app that will do my phone.

I have the Motorola Droid (original) with the 2.2 update that just come out a couple months ago. I tried the Universal Androot and it said "failed" when I tried to root the phone with it. Then I heard about Easy Root in the market, but searched the market and its not there. Also wanting to do the nandroid backup so I can reinstall my current settings just in case and can not find anything to do that either.....need help if you can. Thanks

phone info:

Android Version: 2.2
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-g874c292
Build Number: FRG22D

Hello, take a look at this first: http://androidforums.com/droid-all-...de-updated-october-11th-2010-11-05pm-est.html as it contains everything you need to know about rooting and getting started. Pay special attention to this thread: http://androidforums.com/droid-all-things-root/136508-guide-all-things-root-related.html.

Also, use this method as it is the one I used and was very easy: http://androidforums.com/droid-all-...oid-without-rsd-lite-up-including-frg22d.html.

Once you are rooted, get ROM Manager and Titanium Backup from the market. In ROM Manager, flash Clockworkmod Recovery and make sure you back up all of your apps and settings with TiBU. Then you can make a nandroid backup of your current state ROM with ROM Manager.

Read through those guides to learn how to go about doing all of this and you should be just fine.

If you need help along the way, let us know.
