Hey, I notice certain games or app's i download end up running in the background. once i open up the "advanced task manager" or a free one i kill all the app's running and i notice over time or an hour the app's come back up as running in the background? any way to kill them any make them not come back?

just trying to get the phone to run smoother.

also i have handcent sms and notice that the regular mesenger still is running even after i force close it it's still running. i can't un-install the normal mesenger. is there a way to get handcent sms to be default or make that one run only and have the other one never run in the background?

Some apps, such as IM, Footprints, Stocks, and Peep, are embedded within Android and will continue to run no matter what. Shut them down and they appear almost immediately (I also use atm). You cannot uninstall them either. I don't use any of those things and would love to be able to ditch them but I haven't found a way to do so as of yet.

when i went to manage applications i saw that my phone has IM on it...but its on on my apps, shortcuts, or android or htc widgets...what is IM? im guessing it was instant messaging, but i guess it could be internal memory or something along those lines too. im just wondering if i have instant messaging on my eris so i don't have to download another app for it.

I noticed this yesterday as well when I looked at applications through "manage applications." It has little bubble icons by it which make it seem as though it is most certainly an IM program but I'm not sure where to find it/run it either.

Anyone know what's up with this?

Also, I noticed when I "force stop" certain programs through this setting they keep running or show up a running.
