Just recently, I was downloading Smoked Glass-Esque ROM and after it finished booting all it came to was a black screen.

So I took the battery out and put it back in.

It booted to a black screen.

The phone is on, but nothing is showing up :(

    Please help

have you tried booting into recovery?

If not try pulling the battery then powering on the phone while holding X

How long did you wait before you pulled the battery?, You may have to go into Recovery mode and Restore a Backup. You Did do a Backup First Right?

Turn off the phone, battery pull, put the battery back in and hold down the x-key while powering up. That'll put you into recovery. Good Luck!

    What IS the update.zip?

You NEED to do a nandroid restore to the last know good state and figure out what went wrong before you apply it again methinks...
