Anyone know if its possible to flash the HTC (Telus) Hero with a stock version of Android? Suggestions on which ROM to use?

    Thanks!

With all due respect, if that's what he wants to do that's his business. I find sense useful, but it does put alot into RAM and can slow down the phone.

I have wondered this myself, just to see what it is like, but have yet to come across an answer. I assume that you would need someone to create a custom ROM that is in fact the stock android, which at the moment hasn't been done. So you could learn how to cook your own ROM I suppose...

Unless anyone knows of another way?

Don't think you can do this. Itried a while ago but hit a dead end. Something to do with the kernal.

You can switch sense off though.

    I prefer vanilla Android.

This is very true. If you go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and find HTC Sense in the list, click it and then click the Clear Defaults button. Reboot your phone, and you will have the option to load up the default Android home instead of HTC sense, although you will still have the black task bar (i think the grey one looks better!)

You also retain the HTC keyboard - which is nice.

Cool, thanks. Just what I was looking for.

And before you ask again, G8D, I'm just not that impressed with Sense as an interface.
