I'm looking to buy another battery for my Hero, and I'v found a bunch of them on ebay, but I dont want to order some from Hong Kong just to find out it sucks and doesnt work, or is defective.

So I'm asking you people, did any of you bought one of these, or know someone that did?

Chinese cells dont have the same QoS as OEM manufacturers such as HTC. caveat emptor...

this is a 500 dollar device. dont cheat on cheap non standard batteries that more than likely did not pass QC and are possible rejects. purchase from HTC, or seidio or sprint. its a toss up with those types of batteries...

I'm looking at this one as well. I had bought a battery from Seidio for my old Sprint Touch. I used it for over a year without any problems. The good thing about this one is that it's a 1750mah but still fits in the existing phone casing without needing to get a bigger cover.

I went with the generic option on Ebay. 2 batteries plus + battery charger for $16 shipped. You always take a risk, but Ive gotten these for my last few phones with good luck (knocks on wood). Many times the generics held a charge better than the original.

I had an extended cell from them for my G1 and it was awesome. I will not get a bulky one for the Hero, but the 1750 looks nice.

Please if somebody bought the seidio 1750mAh battery, post and let us know if it works well without a problem with the Hero and if it has an improved battery life than the original 1500mAh.

    Thanks!

Mugen should have an extended battery soon. Just got this email the other day from them. They ship free out of Hong Kong.

    Thank you for your email!

We have ordered Sprint Hero and expect to receive it next week. As soon as we have it in our hands we will update you on which battery will fit it.

Please contact me if you need any additional info.

    Best Regards,

    Nikolai

    Anyone?
Anybody already tested the higher capacity battery either from Mugen power (1800 mAh) or Innocell (1750 mAh)? Does it really provide more power?

    Thanks.

I got the batteries and charger from the sak.gaming seller. Batteries work fine. But like all rechargables, DO NOT CHARGE THEM IN THE DEVICE. Same goes for the originals (My Opinion). I own several Portable Radio scanners 3 of which cost $500 each and the recommendation by many user's is to NOT charge any batteries in the units. Use an external charger even if your batteries are the best money can buy. Any battery can go bad overheat and leak or even explode when to weak to receive a charge.

Regarding the chargers I got for the HERO I am not sure about them as they appear to be operating wierdly. Says they turn red while charging and green when charged. I do notice that when I plug it in without a battery installed it turns green instead of the expected red. I am still playing with it to get the feel of it however, I do believe it is just not working as I would expect. It does charge the batteries.

One thing I have noted even those these batteries do say TOUCH PRO2 and 1500 the first battery I charged up is still going great in my phone and seems to have ran much longer than my OEM battery.

Here's a review to this seller's batteries. I do note that My charger is slightly different.

Hero by HTC:Sprint Battery Packs and Charger

The item arrived in about 15 days.

Make up your own mind regarding charging issues. I feel comfortable charging outside the phone and always carry a spare battery just in case.

I haven't, but there's a thread in either the Sprint Hero forum in the Sprint Community or xda-developers with reports from a couple of people who purchased the Innocell 1750mAh. They reported no significant increase in runtime over the OEM battery, however they posted those reports within a day or so of receiving them.

LiPo and Li-Ion cells need a few charge-discharge cycles to wake up the cell chemistry and achieve full capacity, so it's quite possible that they are getting more runtime now, but I have 2 OEM batteries and I don't feel like searching for that thread again on the chance that those guys posted updates.
