As a way of introductions the Geezer reference is for my age=72 and the Geek reference goes all the way back to my first computer, Tandy's 16K CoCo (Color Computer). I'm sure there aren't many in this forum who can relate to that. But on to the Android experience It has been a short but wild ride beginning on Jan. 9 when I succumbed to the Google Nexus One adds and ordered an unlocked N1. I used it for a week or so with a tMobile prepaid sim from another phone. Did order an Even More+ plan that included talk and Data. Loved the phone but the 3G coverage wasn't good so before the 14 days were up, I returned the phone. HTC received it on Jan. 26 and I still don't have a refund from Google. Chapter two; I really liked the Android OS and knew that I would have to be on the Verizon network if I were going to get 3G coverage where I needed it. Only choices were Droid or Eris. Decided to do the Amazon deal and signed up for the 2-yr activation. Tried for a couple of days to activate the Eris but couldn't. Did manage to set up the interface the way I wanted but eventually discovered the the phone had been activated by someone else so the phone was locked. Amazon did the right thing and overnighted a new Eris which I can safely say is activated, set-up the way I want and purring like a kitty. One footnote about the N1, I received a bill from tMobile for 4 days of use which amounted to $69+ dollars. After talking with customer service I was able to reduce the charges to $11.45. Like I said earlier, pretty much a roller coaster.
