Help How do I alter mail notification frequency?

How can I stop my phone telling me I have mail every five minutes until it's been read?

When I get an e-mail through the night my phone notifies me with either a vibration or sound every five minutes until the mail is read. There doesn't seem to be a way of changing the frequency of notification reminders.
I don't want to turn the ringer volume down (or off) in case I get a call. Other than changing the vibration/sound notification settings every time I go to bed, I can't figure out a way round this. Any ideas?

I don't know what email app you are using but in Outlook you can set quiet times when it doesn't notify you or even Push emails
