It amazes me that no one has shared their update file here yet, but today I realized that if my Inc finally gets the ota tomorrw, I have no idea how to get it to all of you.

How exactly do I (or any of us for that matter) go about getting update.zip off the phone when the time comes?

I was asking around on another set of forums and someone who had the update told me...

I would assume if you get the update, tell it NOT to update then search with ASTRO. :)

You have to use adb and have a logcat running when you accept the ota. That will create a text file and in said text file, there will be a link that specifies where the ota is coming from. As far as I know, that's the only way to share the ota before it's pushed to everybody. Or just install the leaked file from 8-26.
(The said text file can be found in the sdk>tools folder)

    To run a logcat: http://androidforums.com/htc-incred...d-494-software-number-605-2-a.html#post658976

For a more comprehensive guide on logcat (adapted from lgldrgdlr's screenshot guide):

-Download HTC Sync from here: HTC Mobile Phone Support - DROID INCREDIBLE by HTC (Verizon) - Downloads
-Download JDK 6 from here: Java SE Downloads - Sun Developer Network (SDN)
-Download the SDK from here: Android SDK | Android Developers
-Once SDK is downloaded, run "SDKSetup.exe" and install platform 2.1
-Enable USB debugging on your phone: menu>settings>applications>development>check USB debugging
-Navigate to the tools folder of the SDK, right-click on the "ddms.bat" file and send to desktop as a shortcut. When you click on it from the desktop, the debug monitor will open.
-In the new window that opens you should see your device listed. Select it
    and then click device>Run Logcat
