Same way you delete anything on your home screen: long press the icon until you can move it, then slide it to the trash bin that will appear at the bottom.

I feel like a huge newb, but I tried this, saw the trash can appear, but the widget is still in my "all programs" list. Any ideas? I'd like to remove a few apps, but everything is still there after sliding them to the trash can at the bottom.

Deleting them from the Home screen doesn't uninstall them if that's what you're asking.
You have to go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications and find it in the list, and uninstall it.

I dont understand why people cant just read the manual. Why not just read the manual instead of asking every simple little question in a forum.

You mean the one that doesn't even come with the phone? The one you have to go online and get from HTC's website?
Maybe some people just assume that since it didn't come with the phone, it doesn't exist?

That's what these forums are for.

Exactly. Although I wish HTC had included the little quick-start guide that was with the Droid. It was pretty helpful for the more common questions like these. But the forums are a vast wealth of knowledge even though it's nice if people do a search first or look at the stickies...

Thank you Ataranine for your help, I appreciate it.

onion, I did read the book that came with the phone from cover to cover, three times. Thanks for your suggestion though.
