Glad you dared to ask because I wondered if I'd sound like a fool saying that I love my air-ris. :)

    Computing Dictionary
    Eris
/e'ris/ The Greek goddess of Chaos, Discord, Confusion, and Things You Know Not Of; her name was latinised to Discordia and she was worshiped by that name in Rome. Not a very friendly deity in the Classical original, she was reinvented as a more benign personification of creative anarchy starting in 1959 by the adherents of
Discordianism and has since been a semi-serious subject of veneration in several "fringe" cultures, including hackerdom.

Interesting.. I pronounce it "air-is" I can't really envision it being pronounced any other way.

Every time I say something other than "air - eez" at my vzw store they tell me "no no, it's pronounced air -eez".

Yet I continue to say "air-es"

    *shrug*

Err-Yss. -er as in to err is human.... -is as in the abyss. I used to work with a woman named Eris, spelled and pronounced that way.

No matter how you pronounce it, it all ends up sounding the same.
