How do you turn the phone off?

Sorry for the stupid question, but I know how to turn the screen off, but how do you turn the phone off? There is no "End" key for me to hold down.

Hold down the power button (the one you are using to lock the phone) - a prompt will ask you what to do after a second or two.

Thanks. I had tried that before, but without success. Looks like the phone must not already have the screen off, nor can it already be locked for this to work.

Edit - I should have asked this a long time ago. I have been fumbling with the case, then the back cover to pull the battery when I could have simply powered down.
