Less than 10 seconds for me. If it takes ages it's often some form of backup software if I recall from another thread.

Took a long time before I rooted it. It would probably get to around 5-10 minutes before I got bored and took the battery out.

Now I've rooted it takes about 6 seconds.

No. Certain posters insist that unmounting the SD card or turning off automatic backups is the definitive answer to this problem.

It's not. My phone's been up for a few weeks. I can pretty much guarantee that I'll have to pull the battery if I need to do a shutdown, regardless of the above "solutions".

I agree. I have the same problem. I even removed a couple of apps I was thinking caused this problem, like Astrid, to no avail.
If someone finds out the real solution it would be great.

I was wondering if all the people with the problem are all on the same carrier eg. Orange? for example and that maybe its the crapware/customisation causing the issue...?

I wouldn't advise pulling the battery, you may lose data or corrupt something

    Have you contacted HTC?

Over 10 mins althlough I've resported to pulling the battery out.

Orange, un-rooted, 4gb sd card, task manager running

The unmounting of the sd card does nothing to help my phone.

Mine takes different times depending on how long its been up, i guess its the auto backup software backing up the phone on shut down.

It just took 2 mins 15 secs, but second time, less than 5 secs.

so if you are always turning it on and off it will be quick. . .
