Help How safe is it to update from 2.1 to 2.2 on the HTC Desire

So I did my research and from what I've read the HTC Desire comes with 2.1.I will be getting one in a couple of days and my question is:Is it 100% safe to update from 2.1 to 2.2 trought wireless?What if the download intrerupts,does my phone get bricked?
I'd really appreciate an answer to my question.The reason I want to update is that i really want to get apps on my SD card,cause' i really like getting a HUGE amount of apps.

Welcome to Android Forums!

When you get your phone you can wait for the OTA update notification or check for the update manually. Or, you could download the file and apply it manually. In any case, if the file download is interrupted it won't be applied, so you have little to worry about.

Some still come with 2.1

I got mine back in March and specifically asked the woman in the 3 store if it came with 2.2....she said yes....lo and behold when I got home and turned it on, it was 2.1 lol.
