how to exit apps

i opened radio and hit back key it is playing in background.can anybody tell me how to exit the applications. i have too many applications opened when i long press home key.

I don't know about the radio (don't have it), but most apps really close when you hit the back key (or at least, they don't continue running, they sleep until they're needed again or until the memory they occupy is reclaimed by the system)

The list of apps that show when you long-press the home key is actually the list of latest used apps.

Simply pulling out the earphone din plug stops it running on my machine
