Well its the best way, but it is a good method.

Download two things from the market
    1) adw launcher
    2) fancy widgets (hurry because they are about to end this version)

The launcher will give you a different interface so you don't accidentally hit the annoying my faves button.

The fancy widget provides the htc sense digital clock with the weather.

The launcher has the option to make your phone look like it is running froyo and it implements the samsung vertical scroll for all the apps.

I have not found a good music player that shows artwork the widget. The launcher will give you a basic music player widget but I love it still.

Once you install adw launcher, it does not allow you to add the htc digital clock widget.

The htc clock only works with htc sense user interface.
    Soooooo

Download, install adw launcher (this will get rid of the myfaves)
Then download fancy widgets and then long press the screen to add the widget.

It you don't download this then you won't have a fancy digital clock you were used to.

I prefer LauncherPro and Beautiful Widgets. :) But yeah, much better than the default interface, though I do miss the small FriendStream widget.
