I ordered an Inc on June 6th on my annual upgrade... It is scheduled to ship out on the 28th. I went to a Best Buy and compared the size of the EVO 4.3 screen to the Inc and SOOOOoo wanted the bigger screen. Now I find out the soon to be released "Droid X/Shadow" has the 4.3 screen- SCORE!!!

so what do I do? I am pretty sure I am going to want the bigger screen. I like HTC Sense that my husband has.. but have never used it myself. Right now the only thing that MAY make me change my mind is the motoblur ( or ninjablur or whatever) vs. the HTC sense. I do a lot of social networking so to me it does make a difference to have one that is user friendly.

Can I cancel my order? and preorder the Droid X? Do I accept the Incr and then return it for the Droid X before the 30 days are up? Do I preorder the Droid X and refuse the Inc?

Ideas??? Am I making this too difficult? I am so tired of my BB!! I want to join the android fun!

Ask VZW, they'll charge you a re stocking fee if you accept, then return and buy another. Seems like they should work with you if your going to save them the hassles.

Truss, will they charge a restock fee if he was upgrading in his contract? I thiught we had 30 days to return? I'm not questioning you, just want to understand when I upgrade this summer.

You will have 30 days from the day you activate your Incredible to return it for the $35 restocking fee. At that point, I think you're supposed to purchase another phone, but you might be able to activate an old one until you can buy the Droid X.

Check with VZW and ask whether or not you can return your Incredible if you don't like it without purchasing another phone or losing the upgrade you used to purchase it.

Also, I would personally make sure that you really want the bigger screen for real life. It seems nice in the store, but remember you have to hold the bigger phone to your face on calls, put the bigger phone in your pocket, reach across with one hand while typing, etc. I prefer the Incredible to other Android devices, like the EVO and the Droid X, simply because those devices are huge plate-like slates that you hold to your face. Incredible seems better sized for a phone - perfect balance between a good screen/device size to browse, but small enough to pocket and talk on comfortably.

    1. Get your Incredible and enjoy it.

    2. 20 something days later, call Verizon and tell them you want your old phone back. Have them switch everything back to the phone you had and send your Incredible back to them. By then, you'll have had a good feel for the phone and a good idea of what you want out of it.

    3. Wait for the DroidX.

    4. When it comes out, pick one out use the 30 day worry free guarantee on that.

    5. Spend the next 20 something days or so trying to remember what your Incredible was like and decide if this is better. If not, take the DroidX back. If so think about whether it would be better to wait for the network upgrade.

    6. If the DroidX > the Incredible AND is so awesome that you don't care if you could have a new phone on a faster network in 6 months or so, keep the DroidX. If not, take the DroidX back and activate the phone you have now until then.

I should make a flowchart. It is a lot of effort and a lot of waiting, but at least you would have fewer regrets about the phone you do decide to keep.

Hahhahah...Thanks for the verbal flowchart anyway!!!! My worry is the turn around time when you turn in a phone in your 30 day period? Can you take the phone to a store and walk out with a new phone???? Or is there some kind of processing time. I cannot be without a phone due to OnCALL time with work.

Oh, you still have to go back to your original phone to avoid the restocking fee. Those switches are instantaneous. If you don't care about the restocking fee, you are just subject to availability in that case. The only processing time involved is getting your rebates (that takes forever and make sure not to send in for them until you're sure you want to keep the phone because they won't let you return it then.)
You won't be without a phone. If you don't have one, you won't have a chance to incur overage charges and that is where they make their money. They certainly won't miss that opportunity,
