I thought that's what the proximity sensor does, does this mean that yours doesn't work?

Have you tried testing it in the service area... from unlock screen, don't swype but press

    Menu Back Back Menu
    Back Menu Menu Back

If you go into service tests and then Proximity Sensor you should be able to test it by covering the top right of the screen.

If it doesn't say on screen on and off then I think you need to either try a software repair or take it to a service centre to be repaired.

Hmm, my Proximity works! Hmm, i think it's my phone that is weird, it sometimes does things when it wants, the keyboard always vibrates on it's own lol,

I think i have sort of found a fix to it,
I went into the HTC MOD Keyboard, and then calibrated my screen again, then turned on the typing sound... Now it does not vibrate and going crazy on it's own.
I've been testing it with few texts and it doesn't seem to have any problems... I hope.
