Same thing happened to me. I had grand plans to do a FDR before updating to KK. The phone surprised me with the update notification, so I kept denying it all day long until I had time to prep for it. Unbeknownst to me, the update would go ahead with or without my permission. I recall being awakened about 2AM when the phone rebooted after self-approving the update. Fortunately, I've had few if any issues after the impromptu update.
