Help How to play large (>13gb) mkv files?

So I am experimenting with Google cardboard and have been impressed with its ability to show 3d films from a few short clips I have seen. I want to try a full feature length feature but am hitting huge issues.

The film I have has a small 100mb sample file that runs perfectly, however the feature is over 13gb. I found just getting it on to my phones sad card was a nightmare, but finally with it transferred the players all fail to run the file, I assume this is to do with the file size as the codecs should be the same?

I am running a HTC M8, lollipop and favouring mx player as it runs the sample best.

Suggestions????

Try streaming it from your Google Drive or something on your local network because you're right - the file is just too big.
