    Hi, Desire users
I'm in Canada and with Telus
I'm asking all the Android and desire users on..
How to receive stock Android updates from google via OTA, just like nexus one

I know that u can get stock Android through rooting and downloading the file
But I'm asking if it's EVER possible to receive OTA update straight from Google without being altered by HTC and the service provider.
Ie. Desire's enviable brother.. NEXUS ONE

No, you'd need to use a custom ROM and update it when th dev does so with new N1 updates

How is it that n1 is able to receive OTA straight up from Google? is it because n1 is debranded and unlocked? Or is it somethin different in their configuration?

Probably has something to do with the fact that the N1 was made as the official Google dev phone.

Because the n1 is a different phone. The n1 is a Google phone, not HTC. Same reason Samsung galaxy can't receive updates from Google..

Yes Google android is the operating system, but its just a base. HTC and Samsung have to modify it to work on their devices. Drivers etc. Then they put their own user interfaces on it.
