Help How to remove uninstalled Android 4.3 firmware

I recently purchased a Galaxy S3 which is my first smart phone. When I received the phone, one of the messages in the notification panel read something like

Long-press the notification. You'll get an App Info button. Press it. That brings you to the Application Manager for the app giving you the notice. Clear cache. Clear data. That should stop the notifications, at least for a while.

If your phone is rooted, you should be able to delete the update.zip (I think it's in the cache folder in the root directory, but I don't fully remember if that's where it was for me... I have to re-research it anyway for another thread).

I'll post back or edit this post when I find out again.

It shows the folder in post #8. I think on Samsung phones it's just called update.zip... though it must have downloaded itself to your phone first, and you have to be rooted.

My phone is NOT rooted. As an inexperienced user, not ready to go there yet. What I have discovered (after the tip to long press the update) is that the App Info screen has the option to "Force Stop". Would that kill any further notifications, without affecting anything else?

id imagine it would just restart itself. Does it have the "disable" option or the "show notifications" checkbox?

The Disable button and the Show Notifications box are "greyed out" , nothing happens when you touch them.

Then without rooting or maybe a factory reset i think you could be stuck with it man sorry

ok so googled your issue and i found a post saying to install system tuner https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.pmw and tothen dothe following :Select google services framework uncheck SystemUpdateInstallDialog and SystemUpdateInstallDownloadDialog
cant confirm if will work but worth shot
