Guys, this might be a weird request, but maybe there is a way to do it. When our systems go down here at work (email) our phones stop working for email communication, and I have staff that freak out when this happens. My CFO would like me to send a TEXT to all our staff (Teams) that are in the field to let them know our Internet is down. Now all these Teams have their phone numbers in our Global Address book of Exchange. But I would like to be able to access it easily on my phone as selecting a group and it sends everyone in that group a text.

Been working on this for the last 2 hours and can't find a way to do this.

    Anyone have a idea how?

I also tried adding a separate group for contacts in Outlook 2010 for Exchange, and it won't show up on my EVO either. :(

If you do some searching on here and Google, you'll find that many people have been asking about implementing the GAL in the stock client. Maybe in Gingerbread.

Do you have all of those contacts loaded on your phone and sync'd to Gmail Contacts?

If so, there is a way that you can text all of them at once.
    - Add Label (e.g. Work; Team Members; etc.) to every contact that needs to receive the text
    - Go to text message program and start a new message
    - Click on people icon to the right of the TO frield
    - Device Contact List will come up
    - Click on that <Groups>
    - That will switch to show all the different labels that you have for people in your phone
    - Click on whichever label or labels you want to text
    - Click OK
    - All the necessary contacts should be added to the TO field

Hope that's what you were trying to achieve.

If you have the phone numbers for your team in your phone already then go to messages and open a new message. It will go to the "to" screen, however, you will want to click the icon to the right of that screen so you can choose from your phonebook. once you are in your phonebook, just start clicking the check-marks to the right of the contact and scroll down. You can create a group as well, which sounds like what you want to do. You can choose up to 40 contacts for mass text. Hope this helps.

If you don't have the phone numbers to everyone on your team, I would suggest getting them. Not fun having an unhappy CFO.

If you are trying to sync, go through Google and sync them through there, then when you open Google on your phone all your contacts, with cell numbers, will be in your phonebook.
