How to turn on only wifi

Hello!
Today I got my first android phone, Droid Razr Maxx HD, and I have one major question: How can I use only wifi when I'm connected? I don't want to use all my 4G memory up.

My temp fix I've found so far though: Turn on airplane mode, then wifi. Any other suggestions, or does it do it automatically?

If you are on WiFi it will automatically use that for data except phone calls, sms, and possibly MMS. Any web surfing or apps will use the WiFi when available.

There's also a standard android Power Widget that you can drop on a home screen which will let you turn the WiFi radio (and other things) on and off as and when you need them.

You probably want to keep WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and Sync turned Off when you're not using them. Screen brightness you probably want to leave on auto.

You could just make sure Data is off then turn on Wifi, if you want to still text and make phone calls.

Just make sure you don't have a battery saving application like Juice Defender active because sometimes it likes to automatically turn it on and off.
